Radiesse is an effective non-surgical dermal filler that helps to smooth away wrinkles and fine lines, combat nasolabial folds and acne scars, and provides ample volume for thinning lips, sinking cheeks or flattened temples. Radiesse also helps to stimulate collagen, a natural protein responsible for skin suppleness that begins to decline with age.

What is Radiesse?

Radiesse is an innovative dermal filler that can be used to revitalize and revive the aging face and hands. It is used to activate the body‘s natural production of collagen, a protein that hydrates, smooths and softens the skin. The procedure is most often used to target areas around the mouth and nose, and areas of the face that have experienced fat loss. It can also be used on the top of the hands where skin volume has decreased. After the application of a local or topical anesthetic to reduce discomfort, Radiesse is injected deep into the epidermis to volumize the skin, eradicating deep-set wrinkles and areas that experience ‘drooping’.

Who makes a good Radiesse candidate?

Good candidates for Radiesse are typically people between the ages of 30 and 60 years old. Those who have skin or health conditions that make them susceptible to infections with increased chances of experiencing excessive bleeding should refrain from choosing this procedure. Clients should have a good understanding of how the process works and that the sustainability of results can be affected by the individual‘s lifestyle, age, physical activity and skin type. In general, those who are concerned about their jowls, weak chin and nasolabial folds should consider this treatment.

What are the advantages?

  • Results are seen immediately
  • Long-lasting outcome
  • Treatments typically take less than 15 minutes to complete
  • Injections stimulate production of new collagen
  • Compared to other fillers, Radiesse requires far fewer injections
  • The risks of allergic reaction are very low because Radiesse is a natural product

Will there be any recovery to speak of?

One of the positive aspects of being treated with Radiesse is that there is no downtime following the procedure. People that choose this treatment are free to get back to work right away. The only thing that must be avoided is exercise (for the first 24 hours following the injections).

Some individuals experience a “firmness” in the treated area for up to two weeks following the procedure. Those areas will slowly soften over time and any discomfort experienced can be easily treated with over-the-counter painkillers such as Tylenol.
